Turning on online payments (Stripe)

Online payments use Stripe Checkout. Families pay on Stripe’s own page, so card details never touch your portal.

1. Create a Stripe account at stripe.com.
2. In Site → Settings → Payments, paste your Stripe secret key and turn payments on. Start with a test key (sk_test_) to try it.
3. In Stripe, add a webhook pointing at your portal’s /payments/webhook address, for checkout.session.completed (and checkout.session.async_payment_succeeded for ACH). Paste the signing secret into Settings.
4. Try a charge with Stripe’s test card 4242 4242 4242 4242, then switch to your live key.

We set this up with you during onboarding. Stripe’s fees are per transaction; there’s no subscription.
